Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

We have landed in Rio de Janeiro a few hours before midnight. With just enough time to drop our bags and walk down to the beach to see in the new year, it was boiling hot even though it was the middle of the night. I hope you had a nice new year!

This is me dancing in the streets on New Year’s Eve!

We all got very sunburned after our first day because it was really sunny. From then on, we put lots of sunscreen on.

Today it finally rained but it only cooled down a tincy bit, so was still very hot, Rio’s weather is the opposite to London. Mum and Dad keep telling me I will get used to the heat, but I am not yet convinced.

Yesterday me and my sister went swimming in the pool at the guest house, it was a great way to cool down. We played  “it/tag”  in the water with two other girls whom both spoke different languages, one spoke Portuguese and the other Spanish. It involved a little bit of hand actions but we all worked out the rules in the end and had fun playing for hours .

The last two days we have been exploring the area. Tomorrow we are relocating to the other side of Rio, closer to Copacabana. This will make it easier for us to see more of the well known sites including Christ the Redeemer, which I am looking forward to after learning all about it in Topic.

Lucy xoxo
